Our Mission
Mission Statement
The Coalition for the Responsible Growth of Dover (CRGD) is dedicated to responsible and sustainable development in the Town of Dover and surrounding areas that directly affect the quality of life and the environment of Dover. CRGD supports land use planning that protects the character of the Town, preserves open spaces, protects the local environment, habitat, water quality and ecology and, in particular, protects the Great Swamp and the Ten Mile River Watershed.
CRGD supports development plans, including the redevelopment of the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, that is of a scale and nature compatible with the Town and will not present burdens to the Town’s infrastructure or adversely impact the environment. CRGD will pursue its goals through educating local citizens and government leaders about the importance and benefits of sound planning that protects the character of the Town and environment. CRGD will also engage in necessary advocacy efforts, including litigation, to further CRGD’s goals and protect against projects or actions contrary to its goals.
CRGD is a project of the Open Space Institute, Inc. (OSI,) a nonprofit public charity exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.
